I am currently down with chicken pox and won’t be updating the blog for a while. Both hubby and Qianyi have been immunised and are fine. Hubby is currently on a 2-week emergency leave to look after Qianyi. Poor Qianyi is not attending nursery for the time being as a precautionary measure just in case she is a carrier of the virus. This is really frustrating, but at least the itch is not too bad. Hope to be back soon.
Qianyi hates to take showers. I have to clean our bathtub and fill it partially with water for her daily bath. When she refuses to get out of the bathtub after playing there for quite a while, I would turn on the shower to scare her out of the tub.
Sometimes when I’m lazy to clean the big bathtub for Qianyi, I would just fill up a pail of water for her bath. Initially, I scooped some water from the pail to clean her. Later, she managed to squeeze herself into the pail! She thoroughly enjoyed having fun inside the pail. She would say, “Jack in the box” although I kept reminding her that it’s not a box.
When Qianyi was attending trial class at her new school, one of her teachers told her, “Ask your mummy to buy you some big girl panties.” I overheard it and noticed every girl there was wearing panties. She would wear panties only with skirts, not pants. So, I bought more cute panties for her and kept reminding her to pull down her panties after pulling down her pants.
It’s not very convenient to pull down pants and panties and then pull them back up. On the first day, she wet her panties when the teacher wasn’t with her in the toilet. I guess she didn’t have enough time to pull her panties down. She always holds her urine until last minute. As she doesn’t tell when she needs to pee, her teachers decided to bring her to the toilet when they think it’s time.
Qianyi brought home some potato salad today!
Here’s the potato salad recipe:
Things you need:
Mashed potatoes, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, olives, celeries, dinosaur cookie cutters (optional), plastic/paper plate
How to make:
1. Children will scoop and put mashed potato in the middle of their plate.
2. Then, place cucumber (pre-cut into triangles) for the teeth of the dinosaurs.
3. Children will place cherry tomatoes or olives for the eyes.
4. Then finally, children will place celery that has been cut into slices for the scaly outer covering of the dinosaurs.
Here’s what her teachers wrote in the communication book:
Qianyi has settled in well in class. We had cookery today and made mashed potatoes. She seemed to have really enjoyed herself slicing the vegetables and tasting them.
My dad’s getting older. We’ve just celebrated his 81st birthday. We had a gathering at my dad’s place. All our relatives in my hometown came to celebrate his big day. We had another celebration at my mum’s hometown. Although Mum’s no longer around, her younger siblings would like to have a big celebration at my 5th Uncle’s restaurant. There were 16 tables occupied!
When I was a little girl, I used to be mistaken as my dad’s granddaughter. When Mum was still around, she’s always the one who talked to me whenever I called home. If he picked up the phone, he would say, “I’ll get your mum to talk to you.” Now she’s gone, Dad has to chat with me on the phone.
My dearest dad, elder brothers, elder sisters, sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces
Little Qianyi wasn’t very happy that day because there were too many strangers!
Qianyi kept eating peanuts before dinner started. She refused to eat when the dishes were served.
