My darling girl is always a funny girl in her Occupational Therapist’s eyes. Qianyi enjoys this gor-gor’s company very much.

Today, Gor-gor gave her some wonderful massage using therapy brush. She loved it. He has taught me how to use the brush.. I’m going to massage her a few times a day from now on.

Gor-gor said she has improved a lot. She can talk more now.. She even told him that she was angry and cried because of the mask. She couldn’t say it in complete sentence…”Qianyi angry, ku ku (cried) mask.” She saw a lovely mask in Gor-gor’s box last week but she wasn’t allowed to play with it. She cried and threw tantrums. He asked me if this cheeky girl cried all the way home. I told him I managed to calm her down by drawing a picture of her wearing the mask with tears rolling down her cheeks. He was very impressed. He asked if I learnt that from the specialist in the UK… The answer is NO…I”m the specialist..heehee.. I draw in a book. We would go through the book together and talk about her happy and unhappy experience.

During the OT session, Qianyi loved staring at Gor-gor and said Hello to him many times. She touched his cheek while he was talking to me. She kept touching his toes too when he was explaining to me about the therapy massage.

When he said “Bye-bye Qianyi”, my funny girl said “Bye-bye Qianyi” too. Gor-gor pointed to his nose and asked, “Who is this?” She said, “Nose!” Hahaha…

What’s Mummy’s name?

Qiu Pei Jun

My darling girl can pronounce my Chinese name correctly. When I scolded her the other day, she told her daddy, “Qiu Pei Jun very naughty!”

However, this cheeky girl enjoys making fun of my name very much. She keeps trying to mispronounce my name. At first, it’s “Qiu Pell Jun”. Later, it has become “Xiao Pang”. It’s unbelievable…from Qiu Pei Jun to Xiao Pang!

When she couldn’t find me the other day, she asked her daddy, “Where is Xiao Pang?” When her daddy told her I was taking shower, she came to the bathroom, knocked on the door and called me “Xiao Pang” very sweetly.

This nickname sounds really like Little Fatty. Time to slim down…:(

We visited Marina Barrage last weekend. It’s a cooling evening. After having our dinner there, we had a stroll to enjoy the beautiful night view.

Many people were having a picnic there. It’s an ideal place for low-cost dating too. Qianyi enjoyed running around on the wide green patch. It’s windy that evening…we didn’t let her play with water around the fountain.

Rainy day fun… My girl loves a rainy day because she gets to splash in puddles! :)

We went to watch Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes yesterday. It’s a great way to welcome Qianyi’s 1-week school holidays!

Besides little girls, we saw some little boys too. How come little boys are interested in Disney Princess?? Hahaha…

There’s some superb skating but a prince and a princess slipped during the show… :)

It’s quite a nice show for the children…but I miss the musicals in London!

Besides speech therapy, Qianyi’s having OT (Occupational Therapy) too to help her stay focused and organized. During the OT assessment, with the I-couldn’t-believe-it expression, her gor-gor (the OT therapist is a young Malay guy) told me,  “She flicked her hair!” Yes, she flicked her hair right before she went down the slide.

During the OT session the other day, my girl has shown the gor-gor how vain she is. She’s easily distracted. She would turn some toys in the room to be her hair accessories. We used a long colorful rope for pulling exercise. Guess what?? She put it on her head and made herself look really pretty. The gor-gor sighed as he shook his head, “Qianyi, you are very funny. I’ve never seen someone who is so vain!” :)

Qianyi kept saying “I want to go swimming” before Hubby sat for his exams. When Hubby has passed his exams, we went to buy swimsuits for Qianyi and myself. So, off we went to Water Park in Jurong East last Sunday!

Before we put everything into the locker, we took 2 pictures of the little one. The princess had loads of fun. She was very excited and kept shouting.

I went for a swim at the adult pool. It’s been ages since I last swam! I truly enjoyed it. My darling girl went to look for me when she couldn’t see me around. She said, “Mummy 不见了!” When she saw me swimming, she kept laughing. I could hear her laughter. I must have looked very funny when I swam. She said, “Mummy’s coming…Mummy’s wearing orange glasses (goggles)…locket’s wet wet…earrings wet wet…”

Back home, when she suddenly remembered our swim, she would laugh and say, “Mummy’s swimming…hahaha..” When I said, “Qianyi’s wearing a pink swimsuit. Mummy’s wearing a black swimsuit.” She continued, “Daddy 没有穿衣服!” Hahaha…

I received some photos of Qianyi taken at school via email last Fri after having a 35-min meeting with 3 of her teachers. I was there to tell them  what we did during Qianyi’s speech therapy sessions.

According to Qianyi’s speech therapist, Montessori is not suitable for Qianyi. Qianyi loves running around and Montessori allows that. It’s wiser to let her attend a structured school. Qianyi’s teachers didn’t agree with what the speech therapist’s said. Yes, kids are allowed to move around to choose what they want to do but they are only allowed to run around during PE session.

From the candid shots they sent me, my girl really can sit still to do her tasks. The teachers were happy to tell me that Qianyi has shown big improvements at school. Although she’s quiet, she understands what they say to her and she follows intructions.

The teachers advised me not to follow the home programme given by the speech therapist. I would feel stressed if I don’t have enough practice with her and my little one might be “catching” my stress. For example, the speech therapist wants me to train Qianyi to say Yes or No to my questions. The teachers said Qianyi might feel stressed too…she might think, “Oh, Mummy expects me to say Yes…”  OK and other response may have the same meaning as Yes. If I continue to force her to say Yes or No only, it might produce a negative impact. They advised me to let her develop naturally.

From the photos, I could see that she enjoyed doing the tasks. She has wonderful teachers there to guide her. I really shouldn’t worry too much. :)
